Dave was on to promote his book Don't Try This At Home. Carson actually asked Dave if he had read it since it came out and asked him what his reaction was, to which Dave replied:

"I'm amazed I got through it, ya know, I'm grateful as hell. It helps me value the life I have today."

Carson said Carmen would be on the next day and asked Dave for some "dirt," so he told him about how he and Carmen each have their own seperate rooms in their house for whenever they need some space.
