[In Studio]: Matt, Slash
[Absentees]: Dave & Chris were busy with The Panic Channel rehearsals, and Billy was on vacation in Hawaii.
Kicking off, Matt shared how he was a little tired from the Velvet Revolver performance at the Henry Fonda Theatre last night. They played one acoustic song for this MusiCares benefit show with other guests including Metallica. Matt also shared how much fun he had at the private party at Magic Mountain which Slash was bummed about not being able to go to.
Guitars was an extensive subject. Slash shared how he bought one of Joe Perry's old '59 Les Paul guitars many years ago for $800, and now it's worth roughly $350,000-$400,000, and he gave it back to Joe for his birthday years later since he [Joe] felt that was the only thing that would remind him of the '70s.
Matt wanted to introduce his own new segment called "Tommy On The Town." Tommy is one of Matt's friends who is actually a club promoter, and the segment was a time for Tommy to "brief" everyone on the "happenings" in Hollywood.
Throughout the show, they took many questions, mostly about Guns N Roses. He dismissed several rumors including him leaving VR, re-joining GNR, and David Bowie being his father, though his mother did date him at a time.
By the second hour, Slash was so fed up with the number of GNR calls, and little to no VR calls, that he refused to answer anymore and even hung up on someone who asked a GNR question even after they explained they weren't taking anymore GNR calls.
[Quotes]:
"There's some dude out front wearing a shirt that says 'Slash, you're awesome,' and he wrote it with like an ink pen." [Matt]
"He walked up to me and I was like, I saw the shirt.." [Slash]
"I was worried about the guy actually, he looked like the dude that shot John Lennon. I didn't like his vibe." [Matt]
"That's how this band seems to get together everytime. We just do one song for a movie and that kick starts the whole project." [Slash, about Velvet Revolver]
