Live: Camp Freddy-NotForNothing.net

[03/08/08]

[In Studio]: Dave, Billy
[Guest(s)]: Allison Burns, Johnny Navarro, Jen Morrison

Following with their hair metal themed shows, this show they were promoting as being a "gay" show. Billy wanted to call it "guilty pleasures," whereas Dave wanted to call it "gay jams."

Their guest, Allison Burns, is the co-creator of Give Me Shelter/The Teen Project, the benefit that Camp Freddy will be performing at on March 14. She just so happens to be dating Dave's cousin Johnny, who accompanied her in the studio. The show is ages 18+, which Dave was trying to figure out how some people that the benefit is for wouldn't be allowed in if they're under 18.

In the second hour, everyone had quite a chat amongst themselves, from their shopping habits, how Dave doesn't like walking down the street with his guitar because he gets "are you a musician?" Dave also mentioned that he used to host "after-parties" at his house back in the day which Johnny confirmed.

[Quotes]:

"But, here's an exciting thing Dave. We are actually, the Roxy decided, and Indie are getting involved, we're gonna have a competition for local bands to open up for us." [Billy, about the MAYhem shows]
"That's nice of Indie to get involved in something we put together with our own sweat and blood and now they're like 'Sure, we're involved too!' Thanks for getting involved, guys! Thanks for backing us!" [Dave]
"... Not only are they supporting the new music coming up in the world right now, but they're also supporting old dinosaurs who can't let go of the dream." [Dave]

"You been watching Celebrity Rehab? OK, you know our friend Bob Forrest is on there and Shelly Sprague, the counselor who we also know, something about her on that show makes me want to relapse and check into that just to be near her. Do you agree?" [Dave]
"Totally. That's what I was telling her." [Johnny]
"Can you see what I'm saying? Like I seriously, I'm considering getting loaded, checking into Celebrity Rehab, just so I can hang out with Shelly Sprague." [Dave]

"You know where the term 'gay jam' came from?" [Dave]
"Dave Navarro." [Billy, laughs]
"No, no, no. Tom Morello." [Dave]
"'Gay jam' from Tom Morello?" [Billy]
"I was at Tom Morello's house, I went up there to play him what was at the time the new Jane's Addiction album entitled "Strays." We're going through the songs and I put on one of them, the song "Superhero" which is now the theme for Entourage, but we get to that song and it starts up and he's tapping his foot and he looks at me and goes, 'That's kind've a gay jam, huh?' It was the funniest thing." [Dave, everybody laughs]
